Infrastructure Team Credentialed in Optical Fiber Installation and Management
OneNet’s infrastructure team recently completed a training course to become credentialed BICSI technicians. Team members completed activities to prepare them for overseeing, planning and managing optical fiber installation projects.
Team members who completed the training include James Billings, Robert Prince, Aaron Muse and Chris Simon.
The training is hosted by BICSI, a professional association that supports the information and communications technology profession. According to its website, BICSI serves more than 26,000 members and credential holders.
The course included training in:
- Cable termination
- Splicing
- Testing
- Troubleshooting
- Bonding and grounding
- Firestopping practices
- Project management
Team members passed the hands-on portion of the certification exam and earned 35 continuing education credits over the five-day training.
“Our team members are qualified to lead optical fiber installation projects and manage ongoing fiber maintenance,” said Randy Crosby, OneNet director of infrastructure. “These project management skills are key to OneNet delivering broadband services to subscribers across our state.”
